Not going to lie, I really thought the first season was well written... BUT they could've given Serena more braincells.
I love this serie! Chair Forever
i hope dan gets his dick bit
You shouldn't watch the two (maybe 3) last season, it kind of ruins everything. But the begining of the show is great
Lives up to the hype. I was obsessed with this show in high school. I recently re-watched it and it was just as addicting as I remember. The dialogue is really cringey, but the super dramatic storyline, glamour of the upper east side and love stories prevail through it.
While I did find it entertaining, Gossip Girl has its flaws. But First, let us go to its wins and then talk about its sins:
The Wins
The Shows starts fine to good. Its characters are interesting and Dan Humphrey serves as the chain that connects the audience with the plot. This is basically the first season introducing the main plot, where a low-medium class boy from Brooklyn ends up in the world of Upper East Side (as a foreign this means nothing, but the show explains it nicely). This high-class society has a "villain" in the website Gossip Girl that releases secrets and news in blog form. The first season, besides setting the plot and presenting the characters, makes the plot interesting enough to follow and relatable enough in the hands of Dan, Jenny, Vanessa, and Rufus. It shows that even Rufus have some secrets, some people are not what they seemed, but the plot does make sense.
All the way to the third or four season things are good to really nice. There are more plots, more interesting characters like Georgina. Some romances you start wanting to end up together are form and then ends miserably, though not unbelievably and not logically.
The last few seasons like the fifth and sixth manages to get very few wins. The only I found really worth noting is making Blair more sympathetic to the viewer. The last episode is actually nice, though it has many sins in it that I'm going to write about.
The Sins
The first sin is related to this type of TV show, or in other words, its genre. More specifically the tsunami of drama it happens to the main cast of the show. We see it in Grey's Anatomy, though more emotionally presented, we see it in Supernatural with its resurrect Dean to resurrect Sam to resurrect Dean to resurrect sam.... and so on. Gossip Girl has something similar, it has its drama focused on the inability of the characters to actually sit down and talk to each other. The repetition of secrets and "I can't tell you right now" appears to be needed in the time a plot is happening, but if you pay attention, one may see that the whole thing happened because this one person did something stupid like plotting a ridiculous plan instead of talking to people. I mean, if you have a secret and it relates to your ex, it doesn't matter if it is a secret while you are in a relation.
Another sin is the unbelievable shit people do here and get out of it as if nothing happened or the character is just hated now. For example, Jenny gets drugged and left to be raped by some guys in an unknown place, it doesn't happen because Nate saves the day and rescues her. This is fine, but have you heard of something called "CRIME"? If someone breaks the law he/she deserves to be locked up, not just "forgive or just forget".
And to end this long superficial analysis with what I remember now of the show: Dan Humphrey becomes evil than good and reveals he is Gossip Girl. To be honest, here, the only person I actually cared about in the begging of the show was the Humphreys and Vanessa with some kind of niceness towards Selina (which becomes evil basically, when she deceives Dan and tapes a sex tape to punish Blair (WTF?)). To turn him evil would have made some sense if it started in the first season while turning other characters more likable (yes, even more, likable than Chuck or Blair did, they still did some pretty shitty stuff towards the end). The fact that Dan is Gossip Girl feels more like the writers wrote the show with the possibility of anyone being Gossip Girl, and if someone had a pretty good shot at it, they would have revealed it was another person. While it doesn't make sense of Dan being Gossip Girl, the fact is that during the first seasons I kind see some things that don't make much sense, if I'm not remembering correctly, wasn't Gossip Girl who got in the way sometimes of Dan's relationships? To be honest I don't remember, even though I just marathoned it.
Can’t fkin believe I watched all of this for it to be THAT
This series does great in making you despise every cast member. I think Serena is one of the annoying characters I have ever seen in any TV show.
Basically a show about a bunch of spoilt brats who like to make their own drama and stick their noses into everyone's business but theirs.
This shows probably my biggest guilty pleasure
00pppppppp00??)p00000000 pñpp????????????!!! ñ¡O ñl5
Growing up is believing that Blair Waldorf belongs with Dan Humphrey. Fuck Chuck Bass and his bullshit.
What I most liked (as a guy) is the good choice of music, and the superb shots of NYC. I really enjoyed the series, some of the actors were kinda bad, but who cares
You know we love u gg
The only reason that's makes me watch the show is Blake Lively
Chuck and Blair <3
Chuck and Blair, best couple ever.
The first season was ok. Cheesy, pretty contrived in creating "scandals" every step of the way, but still entertaining. Once the second season comes along, it's pretty clear that the charm of the first season was practically gone. It basically turned into a soap opera with repetitive cycles of conflict, forced scandalous incidents, and poorly written characters with frequent inconsistencies. What once was a witty somewhat parodical show on the upper east side slowly morphed into the very thing they were making fun of.
Season 1: 6/10 (not great, but not bad either)
Season 2 onwards: 4/10 (below average, pretty boring and tiring as well)
Overall rating: 5/10 (I wouldn't watch it ever again, but hey, at least I enjoyed the 1st season to an extent I guess)
ed westwick ruined this show for me. it used to be my favorite and now i can't even watch one episode without feeling very upset.
This is one of the best show's ever!!! I don't now how, but they do a TV show that is so much better than the books. The looks are so wonderful. And the history can fix you for hours!! It's so hard to choose a favorite character!!

High School Is Such a Serious Thing, These Problems Matter.
Good start with S1 but its gets cliche after highschool..
Blair and Dan are the standout character for me they keep everyone out of jail/trouble.
Character Summary :
B The schemer ; with out her there is no thrill and plots
S literally screws everyone and gets out scott free. She is constant drama ; can never decide or commit or considers others thoughts ; more selfish than Monkey D Luffy ( and in a bad way... atleast luffy's whims are for the better good)
D is the Ultimate Insider/Outsider with all the wisdom like Rufus only gets his moral compass screwed by S whims
C This character has all the shades and has turn 0 to 180* to 360* and back ; but most lovable for his schemes with B
N . The slut and thick.. has his ups and downs ; average enjoyable
J. Her teenage tantrums are so irritating ; nobody wishes a rebelling daughter of this kid ; but she is lovelable remaning ( atleast has 10% of wisdom that R and D Humphreys combined)
R . He is good ; much like Dan the Mr.Right and watchable ; not much change in the character though ; a constant and enjoyable
L. Scary Mothers never know they can be this controlling and still lovable.
My sixth sense told me B & D are an item and look good together; wish it happened
Would recommend a binge watch ; even if meant to 2x speed from Season3 onwards.. otherwise there is a high possiblity to drop it on the middle as the ratings suggest
Love this show! So much drama and relationships lol Everyone is so unique and colorful!
who tagged this as comedy
You know we love u gg
Started off so well and then it just became a girly show and taking over soap drama concepts!
I miss them so much
In my opinion, the best show ever.
Perfect music for EVERYTHING.
Awesome actors and awesome stories.
I miss it so much.
DAIR DAIR DAIR DAIR DAIR DAIR DAIR DAIR!!!!!
The type of comments should tell you everything there is to know about Gossip Girl, which I thought was a more or less good guilty pleasure in the first and possible second or even third season, but ended up being one of the biggest clusterfcks I've ever had to witness.
I miss Blair so much.
The only thing I want is that Dan and Serena get together.I love Chuck and Blair too,but their endgame
Haven't been watching for a while, think its time to pick it up :)
