Maybe I'm delusional but I feel like she didn't NEED to pull that thread. They just needed to get away and call the police. Before finding out the aunt was a lot more mentally unwell than I thought and committed Sororicide, this episode's problem was such a non "send someone to hell" situation. I mean, the aunt seemed so overprotective/overbearing that it was borderline abusive but that could have been solved by her just leaving the island. It's crazy to me that she considered & accepted being tortured for eternity in hell, but not just eloping with her boyfriend.
