1x05 From Sun Up to Sun Down

I’m still trying to figure out what this show is about.

I still find the mother extremely exhausting and annoying. She’s always certain that her ways of doing things and of seeing the world are correct.

Where's this show going? It says Drama in synopsis but reaches parts of SciFi, Fantasy, Horror and so much more that can't be covered in genres. Why do they show intimate moments over and over again? What's the point here?
