7.2/10. I liked the premise of this one a lot. Barney going to great lengths to convince Ted he shouldn't move in with Robin promises lots of bro-y capers, and Marshall and Lily reveling in their living alone and then feeling Ted's absence had great comedic potential too, but the execution was a little lackluster. For one thing, Marshall and Lily were a lot meaner to each other than we've really seen them. Some of the humor that came from it was solid, and maybe you can chalk it up to them just being out of sorts due to dealing with Ted being gone, but it felt somewhat out of character. That said, their exchange about the tree and needing to both marry Ted was pretty hilarious.
And there was something interesting and well-observed about Robin and Ted bristling at each other's wants and likes as they tried to merge their lives together -- more hints that they're not meant to be. But at the same time, the whole Barney storyline got pretty far afield pretty fast, with the whole truck setup seeming a little cartoony even for the magical realism of HIMYM. It wasn't a bad episode by any means, with lots of good jokes and some nice character moments as well, it's just not up to the show's usual standards.

I bet all of Ted's stuff isn't actually his stuff. All of it was probably given to him by ex-girlfriends.
