A little out there, even for HIMYM, but still generally funny, so it's passable at a minimum. Ted losing the job and coming to the realization that he felt the most fulfilled and inspired when working in a more unfettered fashion and starting his own firm is a big thing, even if it's motivated by a kind of sitcom wacky scheme of "let's lie to him for weeks to make him feel better." I do appreciate that Marshall and Barney were doing it to try to help Ted (and their hunt for fill-ins was funny, especially the lunch lady), but it's more of the Lily business from last week where they're being dishonest with a friend in a big way that rubs me the wrong way.
There was a certain goofy energy to Robin's mystery celebrity/collection/sex act that made me chuckle even if it didn't make me guffah. Lily's fixation on it in particular was funny, and the list of Canadian sex acts was pretty amusing. Definitely the slighter of the two stories, but enjoyable nonetheless, and the reveal that at the end of the day, nobody at the bar knew what any of the three mysteries were, even after Robin told them, was a cute finish.

Ted's pitching of his designs was horrendous. I don't blame Bilson for firing him.
