An excellent character study. Goggins is, of course, on point showing a pathetic, insecure neurosis of a man trying to feel powerful by playing hero and project meaning through concepts because he feels life, his life in particular, has none in of itself. But I was also captivated by Samson, rivetingly portraying the sunk cost fallacy of changing things from the inside. The humiliation, shame, anger, bitterness, hurt, and more on his face when Jay uses him as a verbal punching bag is exactly what the role needed.
