This pilot is indescribably perfect. That slow creeping tension. That push and pull between Louis and Lestat. The final moment of pure happiness before it all comes crashing down. And all crafted brilliantly.

The highlights are obviously Jacob Anderson with that gut wrenching final monologue and Sam Reid's brand of playful menace as the ultimate temptress. But on rewatch I love how each actor really brings their all to their roles. Steven Norfleet's Paul is perfectly pitched. His religious ravings were delivered with conviction and the genuine love peeking through for his family really humanized the role. And I felt the sibling bond between Louis and Kalyne Coleman's Grace so intimately. The entire family unit in the Pointe du Lac household felt so well relaized

I think people really undersell how much those moments make the episode (and the show) work. Knowing Louis life so intimately before his fall makes that loss feel profound and consuming. It makes the tragedy of his situation and his eventual resentment of vampirism more meaningful cause we understand what he left behind from this new life.

Just perfect in every regard.

And that, folks, is how you make a good vampire show. And on top of that, gay. 10!

Jacob Anderson as Louis and Sam Reid as Lestad... perfect casting. Steven G. Norfleet's portrayal of Paul is spectacular. The quotes straight from the book, I'm already obsessed with this show!

Well acted.
This is the show I've been waiting for for years but I see this show had started filming during the covid outbreak which is before the people had grown tired of and spoke up about all the woke crap in tv and film, so I really really really hope that part of the show will come to and end with the rest of the show still filming (Hopefully), before everyone jumps ship on this one.

Like everybody else, I was a little sceptical going into this. However, the pilot has exceeded all of my expectations and dare I say I’m already obsessed? Not only have the actors done an OUTSTANDING job at bringing the characters to life (for a second time), but it has already been renewed for a second season! I mean, the first episode hasn’t even “officially” aired yet, which is an absolute credit to every single person that has worked to bring this project to life. I am, without a doubt, overjoyed.

Anne Rice’s books hinted at men in love. Without going full Brokeback Mountain with vampires. This show is good but it went full Brokeback Mountain with vampires.

I enjoyed this but it did go a bit too far with the homosexual bits. I'm a big fan of the books and i can accept the changes as the acting is done so well and they made it pretty good with a good story.
it's just that the homosexuality parts are way too much.
I'll stick with this but I hope it calms down.

I WAS NOT PREPARED. The actors really giving it their all, though and that dialogue, sublime I tell you.

this was a serve of astronomical proportions. everything about this pilot ripped my spirit asunder. like if this was all the show did it would deserve every prize. Jacob Anderson and Sam Reid popped the fuck off in their performances. just the toxicity and connection and lust it was all just perfection.

An interview with a Vampire's blend of menace tragedy and pure sensuality is fucking perfection.

This was a great introduction!

Wasn’t too sure if I wanted to start this & as a bisexual man, I’m so happy I decided to check it out because it exceeded all my expectations and gives me huge originals/tvd vibes, can’t wait to check out the rest

The French accent really is horrible.

It's a rather mediocre contemporary adaptation of IWTV. The changes to the characters are good, with Lester becoming a playboy who travels from France to New Orleans looking for fun, and Louie is a black pimp who carries the secret that he is gay in the white world. The story is more popularized and explicit, Lestat lures Louis into becoming a vampire because he sees how special Louis is and how Louis has to waste his life in the mundane world because of his skin color and sexual orientation and wants to take Louis away from it. Louis has too much burden and secrets on his shoulders, so he also wants to escape and he chooses Lestat.
But the director fails to portray Louis' suffering and inner struggle that it seems a bit abrupt for Louis to succumb to Lestat's temptation. The thunder and lightning sound effects and bloody killings at this point in the plot's climax seems too cheesy because of the lack of powerful emotion.

continuity error: in the church after Lestat feeds his mouth is just CAKED with blood all over his chin but by the time he's approaching Louis there's only traces of blood

my only quibble in an absolute banger of a pilot, totally lived up to the reviews
