Ava, and Boyd ... and Raylan
This is the best episode for a long time, from an emotional standpoint…I mean, sure, there’s been poetic dialog, but…emotional engagement? Perhaps that’s JUST subjective, but I think not…I believe it’s crafted!
With ALL of the interaction between Raylan and Winona, and the latter interaction between Eva and Boyd, this is a much more engaging episode than many before it. I was thinking, up until this episode, what a disservice it was watching these last several or, rather, dozen-or-so episodes, without really, “feeling it.” Well, I’m finally able to, once again, invest myself emotionally, and really engage, at that level. Makes all the difference in how much one can truly enjoy a TV show, don’t you think?
As a side note: This brings back memories…of how clueless I was, as a new parent…and, regrets, like how much I want it to do over again…’cuz I know I could do better! (Just talkin’ about the child care scene).
Such a good episode. But Sam Elliot without his mustache is still incredibly creepy.
Hey, you know what's really fun? Listening to a baby scream their head off while two characters are trying to converse with each other over the noise. Oh wait, no, it's annoying as fuck. Not to mention that it's practically torturing the baby - it's not like they're acting crying. (Unless there's some method to very believably fake it, which I am unaware of.)
It's hilariously convenient that Winona is now all like "it's ok Raylan, you don't have to sacrifice anything, you can still be your usual marshal commando self, and I'll just have to deal with it." Lazy writing.
Ava's appeal to Boyd makes very little sense. She is literally the one who told him last season (during those awful Ava-in-prison scenes) to forget about her and stop trying to get her out. Now she's blaming him for not doing anything? He was trying, and you stopped him.
