More zany style and energy compensating for a lack of budget. They don't quite pull off the scale of the earthquake plot, but there's great bits like the woman stuck in the dark lab after the power goes out with shadows of figures and monsters on the door, and Takeshi being trapped in a pit where he can't build up any thrust to activate his transformation, until finding the one solution I hoped it would be, which is achieved with some lovely bad animation.
