A rare miss, when it comes to comedy. The Encryption story however was well presented.

Perfectly good episode. The highlight was really the opening news roundup. This presidential election is just full of material to riff on, and whether it's Hillary complimenting Nancy Reagan on "starting" an AIDS conversation, or violence at Trump rallies, Oliver & Co. know how to wring the best humor out of these admittedly easy targets. But the international women's day gags were just as good, as were the jokes about Switzerland's "help the sick day" logo.

The main story was pretty good. It seems to come down to the same "privacy vs. security" debate that we've been having in this country for years, if not decades, but it did a good job at educating the audience about the arguments on both sides, even if it's obviously a bit slanted one way. I don't know enough about encryption to really say one way or another, but it feels like an area where we're only getting part of the story. Still, there was a lot of good information that teed up the issue well.
