MY THOUGHTS ON SEASON 1:
-WARNING: Spoilers Below-
WOW! This show is incredible! After one season this has already got to be one of my favourite Shows. The amount of twists and turns that it takes that I never see coming is ridiculous, I love it! There's been so many times I've looked at the screen and shouted "WHAT?" and been completely baffled... And that's just the first season?
The plot is incredible and it has one of the most detailed stories I've watched. Lennie James does yet another incredible performance as Tony Gates. I wasn't too keen on Kate Flemming but as the season went on I slowly started to appreciate her more. Steve Arnott is an incredible addition though, the courage he has is amazing. He doesn't care what rank you are, if he wants to say something, he'll say it. No one compares to Ted Hastings though, Adrian Dunbar has done an incredible performance as him.
Each episode felt like they were at least 2-3 episodes with how detailed they are. This show really is a blink and you'll miss it type of show, if you're going in half focused then I'd say don't bother at all, you really need to put your focus into this otherwise you're missing a masterpiece. At one moment you're saying "He's guilty. Its all him!" and the next minute your jaw is dropped because a twist has happened that you couldn't see coming from a mile off.
One character I absolutely despised was Ryan. How one child can be so irritating is beyond me, watching him on that stupid bike shouting "Bent B*****d!!!" was so frustrating. The scream of pure joy I made when Tony finally gave in and hit him with the spanner, no child has deserved that more than him.
I think the 2 best moments for me this season (moments that made my jaw drop) was when Jackie Laverty was murdered & when Tony Gates ended his life. I remember saying out loud "Jackie will be the villain this season, she'll be the main problem" and not 2 minutes later she was killed. I didn't even like the character yet I was still extremely shocked. Tony Gates ending his life was a fitting ending for me and it felt right for his character. He went out in the only way in which his wife and children got everything, its almost admirable. For a character that was constantly thrown in the limelight as the bent copper I honestly felt sorry for him, he'll always have my support.
Honestly 1 season in and I'm in love. I can't wait to carry on watching this masterpiece. There truthfully wasn't a single bad episode and I caught myself wanting to watch more and more until I realised I was actually now on Season 2. Possibly a contender for my favourite TV Show of all time.
P.S. I hate Dot.
Superb first series. I rarely binge watch anything but this has really grabbed me by the balls. I’m deeply involved with so many different characters due to the great acting and intriguing storyline. The best cop series I’ve seen. Unmissable.
Not sure what the hype is about this show. Had a soap opera type feel to it in the quality of the acting and production. Didn't feel invested in any of the characters, as they're all pretty unlikeable.

LOD is one of my all time favorite shows, but I honestly didn't like the first season at all. The show gets a bit of a slow start and in terms of the villains Tony Gates is probably the hardest to follow. If like me, you find this season a bit tough, I cannot recommend enough that you continue! It becomes amazing!
