Locke & Key

Season 1

The season starts off quite promising. It’s filled with lots of very interesting ideas. But as the show goes on, it quickly becomes apparent that the writers have no idea what they’re doing with those interesting ideas. About half way through the end of the season it becomes hard not to focus on how characters constantly make mind bogglingly stupid decisions. The writing just isn’t up to scratch.

The show is definitely entertaining, but I find myself more and more disappointed with it every time I think about it. The concept was great, it was unique, and they could have really made something special. But they didn’t.

The only consistently well written character is Dodge. The rest of the characters are so inconsistent, not to mention stupid, it is incredible how bad the writing and directing are.

As the others have mentioned here, it is lazy writing! Not only that, there is poor direction all around! There are numerous scenes where the acting laughable! I do not understand how this show can be renewed with such bad writing and bad acting!

I wasn't even aware of this series until a friend mentioned it to me.

I was skeptical of it based upon the trailer, and once I started the first episode I was wondering quite where this was going to take me, but it wasn't until the third episode that I got hooked.

It's a little convoluted at times, but definitely worth making your way through the seasons.

Ok, I totally missed this one. But now (2022) I watched season 1 and... I loved it. Great acting great ambiance and interesting storyline. With this storyline they can keep it interesting. Character building is very good and believable. After season one you want to see more, morecstory development and some insight in the history of the Keyhouse.
I am hooked. I recommend this one. Mix of fantasy, magic, (high-school) drama and horror.

I had a fun time watching S1 of 'Locke & Key'. It certainly has its faults and loads it can improve on, but by the conclusion it won my future interest.

The overall acting quality here isn't the greatest, though Emilia Jones (Kinsey) and Laysla De Oliveira (Dodge) do very good jobs each. In truth, a lot of the other iffy acting could be put down to the writing. I'm OK with how the story is written and portrayed, it can be done better of course, but my main problem is the dialogue which comes out awkward most times; notably between the "Savini Squad".

I look forward to S2, where hopefully they can iron out their remaining issues and add a new dimension to the rest.

After reading the reviews I thought this was going to be trash and bad acting. But it wasn’t actually that bad. Some cgi was awful yes but with that budget it’s acceptable. Jackson who plays Bode took me a while to realize that it’s the same actor who plays Georgie from It. He’s the best actor in this entire series. Also I fell in love with the Rufus character, so precious and pure. Overall a good time spent according to me
