I actually liked the Mockumentary approach, and sometimes it was the only thing keeping me interested, how they would react to eachothers stories was one of the high points of this show. However, as mentioned before, the two main leads are not likeable characters, and to be honest, at some points EVERYONE was pretty much annoying, there are three scenes were the other couple made the episode borderline un-watchable with how annoyed I was with their attitutes. In the end, the two side characters (the cop and the actress) stole the show for me, with a story that looked really interesting...or maybe the other ones were just oversaturated for me.
Personally this is not a show I would recommend just for the sake of having a beautiful cinematography and interesting approach of plot, because both of these things are dropped mid season and even the documentary falls as a background element, only being used once in a while, which actually just happens because friendships in this series are LAME, so instead of having a moment when the character can talk about their feelings with friends, we have them talking to the camera.
I do wanna point out tho, is refreshing to have a series that don't make 30 years old virgin stories about first love, everyone is adult, had sex, kissed before and had relationships just like any adult in that age would have.
As many of us after watching the first couple of episodes I had my doubts wether if this was going to be good, turns out it was great, everyone take the risk and it pay off, the setting and character design was great and every one embody them at perfection.
THIS is for the broken hearts and also for the ones in love!
It will definitely go to this list, waiting for Winter to rewatch it!

Fun, Relatable, Full of Lessons
From the title and synopsis, the impression was this is a part comedy, part cheesy, part romantic, series. It was so easy to dismiss but I am glad I did not. Each episode are around 30 minutes long and they did well in telling the stories of the characters and their relationships while staying to a particular topic or subject in each episode.
I like the OST, at least what was used so far in the first 8 episodes. Good acting, the chemistry between the actors were great. Relatable story, romantic and yet light--not cheesy, not teenage drama, no serious political and family drama.
If you're looking for a TV show to break your existing serious line-ups, definitely pickup "Lovestruck in the City".
Watched episodes as of this review: 12 of 17 (on-going)
I loved this show! Great for binge watching if you're late to the party (of impatiently waiting for a new episode each week).
The shooting style is a bit different, unusual for Korean dramas (at least the ones I've seen so far) as it has a documentary / suspension of belief / breaking the fourth wall moments, which may not be to everyone's taste.
The unraveling of the characters' stories was quite fun to witness, but finding out more about them, their thoughts, views of life, love and relationships even more so. I think that's exactly the point here: discovering and sharing characters' inner worlds.
The characters are wonderfully real and layered. Their reactions are so much fun, as are their interactions.
The last episode didn't feel like the end, I guess because the entire show is like an excerpt from life, a collection of moments and thoughts. And life goes on. Things change and flow. Life is life. So anything can happen after 'the end'.
worth watching but it could be better , the cop story was nice but felt like a filler , the interview type show is cool but i felt the order of how her story could be the other way around
The viewer cannot connect with any of the characters whatsoever. Un-likable characters and poor story writing.

PLOT
Lovestruck in the City is simply not for everybody and this show takes time to develop , so you’ll either like it or you won’t I don’t think there’s any in between, but if you do intend to watch give it time. I personally watched it in two parts (1-8) and (9-17) as i held myself from watching every-week and bite my nails or loose interest. I also helps that it a short series to enjoy it more in a binge!!
The concept is definitely fresh and all the characters have distinct personalities and the actors do a very good job in bringing those out (even if I put my love for JCW aside and see, he’s mind blowing in all the emotional scenes and always delivers).
There are episodes in the middle of the show which could easily be counted as ‘filler’. Nothing develops for a while in between and the later episodes are comparatively faster (in a good way). The ending was also not really satisfying and I feel some stories had much more to offer even though they wrapped most of them up as they could. I know this may sound like a reason to not watch but it’s still interesting and at no point did I feel like dropping the show.
CAST
My issue is that the 2 main characters are not as likeable. I did not root for them to be together- I wanted them to develop but separately. It takes time for them to come around one another and their journey made me believe they were better off. The way they were written came across as whiny (ML) and Selfish (FL) and made me loose empathy for them. If frustrating character decisions get to you then you should keep this into account while watching. Also lack of communication is the source of all problems in this drama- between literally most of the characters.
The side characters are more interesting to me in this show and they don’t get enough screen time in my eyes. Even worse They broke-up a long-dating couple and teased to bring together two star-crossed lovers only to breakup at the end
VERDICT
The episode length really works in the show’s favor as I never realize when the time passes. However as mentioned earlier, nothing happens in some and thus a 12 episode format could have worked better
These were enough reasons for me to keep going- however I don’t think everyone would like it. Appreciating the uniqueness of the drama I do think this show would be enjoyed more if binged watch at once. Definitely give it a try for it’s performances, cinematography and OST!
