No backup? This is an awful plot hole.
This is making me watch all the Lupins and read all the books. Aka, a work well done.
I love how he's playing Horizon Zero Dawn with his kid, too. Great choice. Although not sure which version had the option to play with others. Unless... unless this is exactly like "remember when you were a kid and your big brother let you hold a controller while you were playing"... maybe dad's just holding a controller :rofl:
I agree with the video discrepancies though that others pointed out. Someone with his skills and level would have copied or digitalised the tape. I get that for authenticity he'd bring the original, but they manipulated it anyway. But... backup of a vital piece of evidence is crucial. If he doesn't have it, here's the first real disappointment in the show.
Lupin is such a mixed bag. It has plenty of good elements, but the plot is disturbingly stupid in essential moments.

I was already starting to regret watching this show as I realized it's really not as great as it's set up to be, and this episode ruined it entirely.
6.5/10 - I'm ok with the extremely unrealistic story (it's still awesome) but you cannot seriously expect me to believe that they wouldn't have created a copy/backup... A normal person wouldn't be that stupid and especially not them. Even if you don't expect what happened to them you'd digitize it to publish it online as well and create a copy to avoid accidentally loosing/destroying it. I'd even claim that a normal person would bring a digitized copy instead of the original tape.
Starts with drones and ends on VHS tapes. Just like this episode. Starts intense and fresh and ends in a pretty obvious scenario.
The acting, the editing, the music are great. But it was so unrealistic. An experienced journalist and the modern Lupin and they gave away the only evidence they had? Come on!
Ugh this was so stupid, frustrating, obvious, predictable and cliché!
That was the only copy of the video? They didn’t think about uploading it simultaneously to twitter? Or at least keep a digital copy? Just carrying the vhs tape is tricky cause in any moment it could stop working.
And yes the journalist being killed is sad but it was so obvious this was going to happen, and we didn’t get to actually form an emotional connection with her, they should’ve developed this storyline throughout the season, not in 40 minutes. And it was so stupid cause they knew she was being followed and instead of using his house as their base she was chilling at home opening the door to strangers.
So stupid it makes me angry.

That was dumb. What type of master thief, with all the tech, not digitize the tape & trust to go on a show with no back up plans. This is some lazy writing. This show just went down hill. Hope the writing isn’t this bad in next episode.
