Despite the fact that I remember I liked this show when it originally aired seeing it now I can understand why it was short lived.
Back then I watched this because I was (still am) a Trek fan and especially a Gates McFadden fan. So, naturally it was a must-see. And it kind of clouded my judgement. I had the chance to re-watch the show and it felt kind of dull. The scripts weren´t very original or intelligent, there are a lot of "yeah-right" moments. Dialogue was very flat. The music, including the main theme, sounds like something out of a, shall we say, adult movie. That Hawaiian surfer dude is a weak and stupid character. Richard Grieco probably wasn´t the best casting choice either. And the character of Kimba, played by Gates, had almost no contribution. So, there were many issues why this never got on.
The concept for the show wasn´t bad - the estranged son getting to know his late father throughout the people he´s helping. But the execution just wasn´t there.
So a "4" for the show +1 for Gates because I still like her ;-)
