Until now, all episodes in season 12 are quite different to what I saw for years before. DI Barnaby suddenly does erratic things, makes a mickey of himself for a quick laugh and lets culprits off the hook for personal reasons. These are not the qualities of a character that I appreciate precisely because of its correct or stiff necked nature. Barnaby was a man of law and order and he did not take part in idle things. But starting with season 12, he seems to have changed drastically.
