I so wanted this series to be good. I’ve missed Amalia Holm since MOTHERLAND FORT SALEM wrapped. I could tell Netflix was banking on drawing in Amalia’s rather substantial following by using her image on the the poster for this limited series but this wasn’t an Amalia Holm showpiece, nor did it have to be. This was an ensemble piece with a variety of character stories told through the lens of a one day family gathering. I hate to say it but I was underwhelmed by the storytelling, the directional choices and the production value. Although I’m going to give a whole rating point to having Amalia on our screen, I didn’t find the series engaging. I’m giving this series a 7 (barely okay) out of
