Dan and Swampy have a tendency to play up repeating premises as a joke in of itself. P&F was a great example of this with, so it's interesting to me that Snow Way Out, an episode that, outside of specifics, is completely identical to the premiere of the show plays itself completely straight for the most part. Instead, it's far more focused on character development for Cavendish and Dakota more then anything else, and showcases just were their priorities as storytellers seem to now lie.

This isn't to say that the Milo and Zack stuff is bad. It's still very fun, and contains some clever twists in how it subverts the prior uses of this formula. But it's honestly the Cavendish and Dakota stuff where this episode truly shines, particularly in how it changes up the status quo. With time travel no longer a thing for them, this changes up their dynamic together and with the rest of the cast heavily - it's a smart decision that also allows this new, post-crossover era of the show to shine brighter.
