A duchess brings a group of high-classed women from Madrid to Melilla during the Rif War to open a hospital and help the wounded surrounded by rough conditions.
Julia does not leave the bed of her brother Pedro, who is gravely stricken; Pilar and Luis are hobbled behind the ambulance and try to escape the attack of the Rif; Fidel, the chief doctor of the hospital, saves the life of Commander Silva, who reproaches him for having abandoned the soldiers.
