A fantastic show that deals with many serious and complex issues in such a raw and realistic way, while still managing to be totally hilarious and wholesome at the same time.
I kept putting off watching the finale because I didn't want it to end. My Mad Fat Diary has been one of the only things this year that makes me feel truly seen, including all my secrets and all my bearings. Almost every episode is so deeply resonant it feels like intimate therapy. There are many moments that are so poignantly reflective of my own wounds that I can't help but be in tears. I'm kind of glad I re-found this show 7 years after it first aired. I needed it right now more than ever.
Well I started watching this show expecting something similar to or along the lines of The Hard Times with RJ Berger. A simple, yet comical show focused on social situations. What I got, however, was far better. The characters within the show are all intricate, well-crafted works of art. Every one of their hardships you care about, and want to see how it affects the future going forward. This show also elaborates on the complications involved with someone facing mental disorders. I've finished this show feeling that I've gained a good bit of knowledge, and for that I'd recommend it to anyone.
Although I wish Trix had been in more episodes </3 She was an amazing character. I smiled when she returned at the end in Rae's reflection.

I loved this. A good look into the challenges of pre-adulthood and the various psychological struggles we go through at that age. It goes deeper than that as well and really hits the hard topics in an emotional way. My favorite character arch is probably Rae's mom. She was mostly in the background, silly and maybe a bit mean at the beginning but she was struggling too, with motherhood and accepting herself, yet she did the best she could. Rae's journey and the story of those around her was nice to watch for the small amount of episodes they made. Good script with an excellent cast. Definitely recommend a watch!

A teenager running through her vicissitudes from an original point of view. The excelent ninetie atmosphere recalled me a little bit to Daria .
