I loved this episode. Superb!
And now we know why CW never hit the success of his first book again. A great tale of ego and never being quite good enough (and/or not acting on the advice of others trying to help!)
Another solid side step episode. That last shot was beautiful.
Absolutely superb. Like the standalone episode last season, absolutely superb. Loved it
This is a beautiful standalone short film inside a sitcom, about a 20th century narcissist who dreams of writing stories for 21st century MMOs.
That's a sentence I never thought I'd write.
I love these side stories they made. The one from last season was great and this one was too. They got soul and are so touching, and well written with great casting.
The actor playing CW was fantastic. Incredible acting, really. And what a great episode, the ending was so heartwarming.
Excellent episode. The writing, casting and direction was superb.
Nice to see Big Head still winning despite the questionable talent.
Wow, this was really great. A standout episode.
Call me a softie for character development, but this episode was actually a nice departure from the lampooning of the video game development that defines the series in general (which, admittedly, I also enjoy).
Amazing. Just amazing. The kings of backstories.
What an incredibly beautiful story. That shot at the end made me cry.
I can't get over how the regular series can be so meh at best but then once a season they absolutely hit it out of the park with a one-off. Was like part of the deal they signed that they could get the $$$ to make a blah show but they could have one episode a season to flex their creativity? This episode is 2nd only to the one-off from S1 in terms of quality.
Once a season Mythic Quest(poor man’s Silicon Valley) has banger of an episode like this one.
Oh wow. That was just sublime!
I love how Craig Mazin wrote an episode by which we can understand C.W. better, but in a way that I feel sad for him while he doesn't become less of an asshole than he is. I really love the structure and philosophy this show has, even when I think the execution doesn't meet with it. The failed elevator pitch is there along with the ego and the individual visions for the future that just never come to be. Also loved the Dark Quiet Death t-shirt on Ian at the end.
The last shot!!!! Maybe someday in someway we all are gonna make it!
I love how this show plays around and explores with character building and storytelling!! So so so amazing.
And oh god, is it bad that as a creative I kinda related to CW? Like having an idea that you love so much (tears of whatever) but probably isn’t a good one, having a big ego and not taking advice (but it comes from your insecurities and feeling left out) and having an idea that no one gets :( good thing is I’m self conscious enough to realize the similarities, now I gotta work on fixing them.
One thing I feel CW’s friends failed him with was that even if the idea isn’t good to YOU, doesn’t mean there isn’t an audience for it, but that’s probably not something people were aware of back in the 70s.
The difference between last week’s episode and this one is night and day. This has to be the absolute best of the series so far.
It is hard to find any fault in this episode unless one really nitpicks. Having met Asimov, they may had portrayed him a bit more generous. That is not a put down on him, he was just one that struck me as a no nonsense type of guy from the brief experience I had with him.
Casting this one off episode is outstanding as was the production.
The non-verbal communication in the finale was beyond impressive.
I just wish it could had continued for another episode or two. That said, bravo!
None of the good stuff is on TV… TV is for morons!
