neXt: Season 1

1x01 FILE #1

I am willing to suspend disbelief but not put my brain in deep coma.

This is a ridiculous show.

If it had been set in the future it might be more believable.

It’s like a more ridiculous version of Blacklist set 8n sci-fi instead of criminal procedural.

I will probably watch an episode or two more to see if it gets more grounded or more ridiculous. I fear the latter.

AI is something which should have a nuanced discussion not this hysterical garbage.

Well I like this creepy ass show and the whole time I was watching it I kept looking over at my Google Speaker! It really gets you thinking. I still want to know why my speaker goes off by itself at times. LOL

Woke cringe dialogue makes me want to push the button. But, despite his speech at the beginning, LeBlanc seems to be an interesting enough character to get me watch the show. He and Next, of course. When he finally appeared the show finally started to not suck.
Hope it gets better, but I am not holdng my breath.

The premise of this one is RIGHT in my wheelhouse in almost every possible way, so I was really looking forward to getting into it despite it being a network offering, where it's FAR more likely that someone up the chain of command will try to turn things into a one-size-fits-all story meant to please everyone while actually pleasing no one. And while there are hints of this here, it's not overwhelming. Furthermore, this pilot episode does a nice job of setting the table without getting bogged down in the setting. The story and action get moving right away and there's a lot going on right out of the gate. My only real beef is a relatively minor one: how did the AI know the combination of the gun safe when that safe is presumably an offline sort of thing?

Other than seeing that last scene coming from 100 miles away, solid start. Doesn't come across like most cyberfear type shows as "oh no grandma's afraid of the internet"
