This is all about obsession (not my obsession with Joanna Pettet!), and Alex Cord's character has a major case of it. Speaking of Alex Cord, apparently the '70s called and he answered on the first ring. Pettet makes this episode as she plays the beyond beautiful subject of Cord's dreams. It gets a little corny once they get to the bar, but it's engaging. I also enjoyed the incredible amount of sweat pouring off the detective's forehead, chin and upper lip at the beginning of this episode. This comes with a nice twist of an ending.

By the way, I've been watching the Night Gallery series again on the Kino Lorber Blu-ray sets that were released in 2022 and they look really good. There are lots of great commentaries and some neat extras on them as well.

"The Dark Boy" sets an eerie mood during it's nighttime school house scenes and the two ladies who have recruited the teacher are a couple of odd ducks. I also like the shot of the grave on the hillside. I thought the ending was poorly edited or executed.
