I've always loved how Connell told Marianne he came to the bitter realization that the peer pressure was just in his head, that people wouldn't really care if he and Marianne were together. It's such a moment.

A strong, emotional episode!
I love how this show takes things at a natural pace. Not like “oh here’s my old flame, let’s kindle it”, but this feeling of being somewhat misplaced, of having done something wrong, of being stuck, and unforgiven… growing up. It taking months to regain each other’s trust. I’ve really loved that.

Hello, it's the 3rd year of rewatching, lets see if one of these days I'll be watching this with a partner and not alone. See yall in Summer/Fall 2023 with an update.

I'll never get over how beautifully this show captures Marianne and Connell's tenderness and intimacy. Just grade A work right there.

I also got more of the toxicity of Marianne's friend group which I was hoping for. I do think one element that I think's been understated so far has been how class plays into the power dynamics of all these relationships. Don't get me wrong there's been minor references. We see Connell working there's references to Trinity people being "chino" types. But that tension felt more present in Connell's mind in the book. But hey I'm sure we'll circle back to it.
