Six people with morbid obesity are followed for a year. In their fight against the pounds with the aim of getting their lives back on track, they are assisted by a team of experts. In 300 days they try to lose half their weight. The participants of 'Obese' weigh at least double what their weight should be. Losing weight is serious business, because their health is in immediate danger. They are also quite socially involved. The life they now lead makes relationships more difficult and isolation threatens. In the first episode, Wendy assaults Danny Bouman to tell him the good news. He is one of six candidates who will have the chance to lead a normal life again in one year. Danny is 40 years old, entrepreneur and weighs 270 kilos. Sports used to be his outlet, now it's food.
