I love how this case clearly affected Reese, the emotions on his face we so rarely see were intense this episode.
It's such a shame though; I feel like making Reese break up with Iris just because of his past is such a big step back, a huge undoing of everything he tried to learn and embrace these past few seasons (even though I didn't have much love for the pairing to begin with, but this was probably the only episode where I appreciated them). I mean, the whole point of his cabin trip episode with Carter's ghost was to get him to accept that he could have a normal life and he shouldn't let his past affect him, and that was completely ignored with this episode. If the reasoning had been because of how dangerous his current side-job is, it would still be so cliché, but I'd get that because it would also be true. It's kind of (?) obvious that they're setting him up for his big, sad ending.
I like the changes in the credits!
Well, I get why they brought back Iris just to have John break up with her due to his work, but it felt like something that didn't need to be in the episode.
Loved seeing a case tied to John's past that wasn't directly connected to Samaritan, it was a nice change of pace.
And I love seeing Finch and Root working together

Solid case of the week episode, I'm glad we still get these.
It's a shame they are rushing this season, episodes both airing on tuesday and wednesday. Since it's the last season I would have preferred weekly episodes so I can stretch it out a bit more.

I like how the opening credits keep changing. You can see the struggle between Samaritan and The Machine, both trying to beat the other.

What was the point of getting John and Iris together and breaking them up 5 minutes later? They wasted a perfectly good actress on that storyline.
I really liked the flashbacks. Reese's past once again came to haunt him. It was nice to see Kara back. I love to hate her.
This episode felt a bit more like the show I first fell in love with, with the team working together to help someone. We've been getting less of that because of the Samaritan storyline, which is incredible too, but Person of Interest started off as a story of two men saving people. I'm glad we got some of that back in this episode.
