This season starts out reasonably strong with an interesting exploration of trauma, some new faces, some Saw-esque games, and a creepy villain. However, as the season progresses, it starts to lose more and more steam until it falls completely flat on its face in the finale. The reveals are absurd and not only in the unbelievable way. They are just extremely uninteresting and might be the worst choices the show could possibly have gone with. That exploration of trauma at the start of the season? Completely forgotten. Instead, a lot of focus is put on this social media website, but the show is unable to actually create any sort of meaningful critique of it, instead seeming extremely antiquated in how it is presented. While I liked the Saw style games, the episodes started to feel slightly repetitive in the way they kept repeating the formula. The teenage drama felt very angsty, and though season 1's drama was also kind of over the top, it still felt campy in a fun way even if it didn't make much sense. Here, it ends up just feeling very contrived. It's very evident they didn't have a story to tell to extend this to another season, but there was so much initial promise for another fun campy homage to slashers. There could have been a really cool follow-up centered on living with trauma with the cool set designs and costumes and editing that work well in this show, but this felt very amateurish. Dropping my initial rating from a 7.5 to a 5 after seeing that horrible finale.
