My first ever thai drama and I am pleasantly surprised ! The first episode(s) brought some cringe situations that almost made me drop it, but I am glad I didn't. Ended up being a really balanced show, with some visual absurd humor, intrigue, a drop of darkness for the dystopian world, romance (that is not really central, despite the title of the show), endearing characters going beyond their initial clichéd appearance.
Visually, it's a yes. A dystopian, brighted colored, 60's (I think?) architecture inspired world with sometimes vibes of Black Mirror and Squid Game (but more light-hearted).
The plot evolved steadily, becoming more complex through the season, progressively exceeding my expectancies.
I'll look for sure look into thai shows from now on, hopefully they'll meet the quality of Ready, Set, Love !
And if you are hesitating, definitely give this one a chance !
PS : Can't leave without emphasizing the humor. Yes, it is sometimes absurd and over the top, but I haven't laughed like this in a looong time. Some episodes were hilarious ! I think I enjoyed the middle ones the most, maybe 2 to 4.
I enjoyed the final 2 episodes less ; they were just as entertaining but lacked the hilarious parts.
I picked this up on a whim and was pleasantly surprised! It was fun and fluffy and had some great characters. It was made for weekend afternoon bingeing.
