[7.2/10] Well hey, at least the show’s improving. Again, the main story is pretty paint-by-numbers, with Parker feeling like he wants to have braun and not just brains, getting himself in over his head by trying to give himself a firepower upgrade, and then managing to save the day by using his head. It’s straightforward and predictable, but there’s enough fun stuff in it to make it work well enough.
Plus, we get a game for the first time in this ReBoot reboot! I like Megabyte showing up in a basic mobile game, both because the pixelation creates a unique contrast of visual styles, but also because it’s nice to see him using his virus powers to turn a place into his own once more. For all the show’s gotten wrong so far, it’s gotten Megabyte very much right, which helps a lot.
And I continue to get a kick out of Vera. Maybe it’s just my affection for Data from Star Trek: The Next Generation peeking through, but her hilariously stilted attempt to play charades was quite entertaining.
Overall, the episode was nothing to write home about, with a stock story and the same mostly meh performances out of the main cast (though both Parker and Vera were pretty good in this one), but the show’s on an upward trajectory to this point, so that’s something!
