Wasn't expecting too much when I stumbled upon this, but the overall feel and quirky leads immediately reminded me of the original season one of "Death in Paradise", but with a female lead detective. Anna Sampson's DI Mackenzie is a good stand in for season ones Richard Poole, played then by Ben Miller, while the supporting cast are all stellar in their co-starring roles, basically subbing for each of the original Season 1 characters. Enjoyable, and, hopefully they won't screw it up as quickly as they did with the original series by bringing in new leads, or, subpar writing later on in the series, like the did with the original.
