I still haven't read the book, but heard before watching how this is a more faithful adaptation than the Minghella one. Which becomes a problem a bit during the first two eps and change, where both the film and miniseries are very close together as to inevitably invite comparison, in which I find the film comes up superior. But once the violence commences and the story finally starts to diverge in earnest, this becomes its own thing and very gripping in its procedural details buoyed by ice-cold style of immaculately filmed black-and-white look (enhancing the inky sinister atmosphere) and Scott's pitiless performance. Stealth MVP: Maurizio Lombardi as the perfect foil, and whose face has me think of Buster Keaton a bit.
