Since they are juniors in high school, and it's still early in the school year, they're all supposed to be 16. Why is Toni dispensing advice left and right as if she's some middle-aged wisewoman?
Also, this Toni and this Cheryl barely know each other. They've only had a few brief interactions. Toni is making insane assumptions (that Cheryl is gay) based on nothing. This is ridiculous. The writers are just using the fact that Toni and Cheryl used to be together in previous seasons/timelines and are "destined" to be together (as stated in the previous season finale) to force them together here, and are skipping a ton of steps.

Considering this is supposed to be 1955, the reaction Alice had to Betty telling her that Kevin is gay is absurd. Especially because Alice is the embodiment of the Karen archetype. She would be raising the alarm and be up in arms about sin, not calmly telling Betty to help him through this. This isn't even remotely realistic.

Ritchie Valens didn't become famous until 1958. Tried to be a little too clever with the reference.
