[6.7/10] Another episode that I wasn’t crazy about. So let’s start with the one storyline I liked here. Moira trying to cook again for the first time in what’s implied to be years was a hoot. Her and David make for a great pairing, and the insanity and debate over what it means to “fold in” the cheese for her ahn-chiladas was superb comedy. At the same time, I also like the bit of heart in the close of it, where she admits that she now feels useless after having grown-up a capable young woman, and doesn’t want that for her kids. David looking up how to fold in cheese on the internet, and the family actually enjoying the enchiladas in the end was oddly sweet.
But the other two stories didn’t do much for me here. Johnny trying to decide whether to accept “office space” in Bob’s garage was just a big nothing. There’s no laughs, and the bit about Bob trying to treat Johnny as an employee is more unavailing nonsense.
I didn’t really care for Alexis’s storyline either (shock, I know). At least, with her finally breaking up with Ted, maybe this love triangle business is over, though I wouldn’t bet on it. Mutt prompting her to do it is worth something I guess, but it doesn’t erase how shitty she’s been in this whole situation. Maybe the positive response she got from her directness rather than sticking to her usual selfish M.O. will prompt her to try to be better going forward.
Overall, this is two weaker outings in a row, which doesn’t bode well for season 2.
