I was so disappointed that they showed Mr. Milchik was not severed; by showing one person on the floor could exist on both sides of the elevator made the reveal that Mark's absent minded neighbor is actually her boss far less interesting than it could have been.
This gives me straight Portal vibes. Like what Aperture would do to it’s employees to retain their secrets.

What an odd show was my first impression, but towards the end it kinda hooked me and I’ll be watching more episodes. There is a lot of room for character development within the actors.
Aperture Science/Black Mesa mixed with Stanley Parable vibes. Perhaps a bit of SCP as well. That's a good list of stuff to draw from. Seems great so far.
Honestly, Dollhouse (2009) was a more interesting metaphor for indentured servitude.
Elegantly shot and interesting premise. Like all pilots the final moments are supposed to really hook us but strangely the reveal of his neighbour being his boss was a bit lacklustre. Also her subtle expression change in the final frame is to lead us to believe she's not severed? Seems an odd choice to have such a seemingly high level person being so close to grunt work of keeping an eye on someone. Or did I misread it and she's severed too and it's a coincidence. Hmm.
Keen to see where it will all lead.
Embarrassingly enough, hearing the premise I didn't even think about why said company would want their employees to split their mind apart. I thought "oh what a neat scifi-ish concept." Needless to say I'm very curious about that question now...
1st episode has everything a pilot should have. Reminds me of "Counterpart". It has this kind of minimalism that feels like everything is placed with perfect precision. The camera work is outstanding and the very present music helps with the constant intriguing mood.
I guess some credit is deserved to mr. Ben Stiller for the direction of this episode.

73 | Surprisingly this episode was directed by Ben Stiller and he did his job perfectly. The first shot already captivates us to understand the story that Severance would give. The department of photography and art department also nailed their job with a location that has a strong character. This first episode gave us a lot of questions and it also gave us some answers but it made it more questionable. Severance had a vibe like Homecoming, psychological thriller television series that was released by Amazon Prime Video. With this first episode, it was unsurprising that many people liked this series. Apple TV knows how to make a great series.

Hmmm... Very interesting. There is just enough intrigue here for myself to continue. This series premier felt like a season finale cliffhanger. It questions everything. I would absolutely be insane to stop after the first episode. Nevertheless, I'm all in... Let's go!!!
this belongs to that weird category of thriller/horror stuff that's rooted entirely too much in the banality of day to day life that gives me anxiety and yet catch me starting the second episode already
Really enjoyed the first episode and curious to see where it goes. Definitely thought of the Stanley Parable with those hallways. The ending was great - wanted to watch the next episode right away.
Disturbing, mysterious, aesthetically cool, a convoluted plot, and a protagonist that seems promising.
What a bull it. No one searches them on the way out, so is it really such a big problem to write a message to yourself what you did at work and not to return to it? Paper and pens are available!
Having just watched the opening to the second episode, I feel like I've finally watched the first installment, at the very end of the opening credits sequence, which only plays in the second episode. Given that it's a psychological thriller/mystery/social critique, it's hard to have as complete an opinion as a normal television show, but I really liked it, and can't say a single bad thing about what I just watched.
I also feel like I had a hole in my head given I had forgotten that Ben Stiller had already directed several films. I really like this production style, and the intro unnervingly bizarre and unique.

To me great science fiction asks interesting questions, is philosophical and not about the special effects. This therefore has lots of potential for me. In this first episode i liked the slower pace and how information isn't shown till it needs to be known. I worked out what was about to happen when it was about to happen and not before but it was somehow fulfilling. The end however was a little less fulfilling. An enjoyable first episode though I am worried it's walking a tightrope and may fall flat. So far I am liking it and appreciating what is told with seemingly limited resources. Very atmospheric and with a unique feel and potential.
Great first episode. Can’t wait to dive into more.
