[5.5/10] This was a pretty uninspired run through of the series’ standard formula at this point. At least we begin in medias res with the villain for once, but the quickly devolves into an extended, clunky backstory where we learn Kraven’s origins, that involve some Blanka-looking guy in the jungle. The weak foreign accents don’t help, and it’s the usual “I have a hostage, come rescue them Spider-Man.”
There’s some mild intrigue from the fact that Kraven isn’t an out and out villain, but someone who needs to be cured, and the zoo set pieces are alright, but for the most part, this is a dull introduction without anything beyond the usual rock ‘em sock ‘em routine to recommend it. It tells you who Kraven is, which is a service I suppose, but doesn’t tell much of a story in the process.
