The low budget doesn't show quite as much as some of the other episodes, but whoa...that old man's house is dreary and depressing. Everything is brown. Anyway, this episode doesn't really make much sense. The cockroaches, not to mention the goblin mask, look to be inspired by the 1982 movie Creepshow. Curiously, this episode's director is Tom Savini, who was the main effects guy in that movie.
There are a few creepy moments in this, though. I think its cheapness helps set the atmosphere. I'm not sure why the grumpy old man doesn't just give the kids some candy. Seems like he would have been better off just sucking it up and pacifying the little twerps. The old man's son is apparently going to be unfairly punished as well.
