What a great Christmas episode !! Will have to add to my holiday watch list on Christmas Day and loved the opening sequence
A really lovely episode. A bit strange to watch it in august with 35°C outside
That breath scene was something else…
That was a cheerful, lovely Christmas episode!
What a nice Christmas episode, though it really does feel weird seeing this in August. I liked seeing Rebecca reach out to Ted so he doesnt stay home alone depressed during Christmas, its always nice seeing platonic friendships between men and women in these sorts of shows, and I really love this relationship between Ted and Rebecca. Both Ted and Rebecca can relate to the feeling of losing a loved one, as they had both divorced their partners, Im glad they're supporting each other through the process. Also Im glad Higgins got a bunch of people at his Christmas party, its always nice seeing characters like Sam and that "football is life" dude just hanging out and being positive. Roy and Keeley are great as always too, helping out Roys niece with her bad breath, and making Roy's niece's bully apologize, that was pretty funny and sweet of Roy.
Ok, I'm gonna say it: Roy and Keeley's relationship (and wanderings) is the best part of the season so far! Love'em
Can't wait to watch this when Christmas actually comes around :)
It was better than most christmas movies.
One of the funniest episodes I’ve watched, could not stop laughing at the breath scene! :sob::sob:
Ted Lasso is a 10/10 show.
Maybe I'm alone with the sentiment but is anyone finding the pull away from the team and football a little jarring? What made Season 1 so good was the humourous situations around the team and the game of football that allowed these relationships to shine and grow. Now we just have a comedy drama about people who happen to play for/work for a football team. I can't say I'm not enjoying it, the jokes are still very witty and the breath scene was incredible, I just feel a lot of the focus has left and the story is struggling to get a foothold and build momentum. Hope we get back to AFC Richmond, the grounds and the games going into the second half of the season.
Rebecca's character progression through the show amazes me.
What an... absolutely bizarre episode. The bad breath plot makes no sense. The initial scene was funny, but the rest of it is nonsense. Going door-to-door and hoping to find a dentist that will help you on Christmas? That's just weird, and also kind of rude, considering it's not an emergency.
The Ted and Rebecca plot was fine, if a little predictable and boring. Pretty standard Christmas stuff.
The Higgins family Christmas party was the good part. Although that one son creeping on the player's girlfriend was another weird thing. Seemed very unnecessary.
But the ending... what the hell was that?? Some kind of collective fever dream?
Unrelated to the episode, but I found it funny that I finally took down our Christmas tree today (was procrastinating on it) and then just so happen to reach a Christmas episode in the show we're watching on the same day.
Wholesome Christmas episode. I love Keeley and Roy. That classic balance of light and dark, happy and grumpy.
One of the best episodes. A lot of heart and a lot of ties to classics Christmas films.
I laughed a lot in the breath scene. The actors who made Roy, Keeley and Phoebe are awesome! Best episode!
Oh, I needed that. You can call it low hanging fruit, but I call it dopamine city
:joy:
Poor by this show's high standards. Everything was far too obvious, like every Xmas episode ever. This second season is turning out to be a bit of a damp squib.
That was an amazing episode, they knocked it out of the park. Also I liked how the Christmas episode was in August so that's a bit a surprise compared to other shows. The breath scene and the last scene was absolutely amazing.
I love Jason Sudeikis and the character Ted Lasso but this show has become a bit too saccharine for me. Have been trying to give it another shot these past few weeks but the cringe is unbearable.
Really lovely episode, but I will never forgive for the person responsible to allow a Christmas episode air in August
Gave up after this episode. Bye TL.
What happened to this show
A pretty good Christmas episode, but it’s not Christmas right now so I wasn’t the biggest fan
Not much happens in this episode, but I just love the Christmas spirit and beautiful views on holidays in Europe.
Christmas. Those 2 tributes to Love Actually: the posters and knocking on doors looking for someone
this has to be the most delightful television episode i have ever been blessed with seeing
More like Sam ObinSanta... amirite?
A beautiful Christmas episode. Definitely going into my Christmas watch list.
My whole entire heart. I cried the happiest tears.
did this happen or we're living a collective delirium?
That Rankin Bass title sequence is a gift.
Knocking on doors until you find a dentist? That's stupid.

[7.8/10] If there’s a time when sitcoms get to be a little sappy and saccharine, it’s Xmas. This is a more potent and plain dose of feel-goodery than even Ted Lasso usually provides. But given the season, I’m on board.
My favorite of the three stories we get is the Higgins family Xmas party, where all the players who don’t otherwise have a place to celebrate come join in the yuletide festivities. It’s a nice melding of traditions, a reminder that this team is an international coalition and that there’s a wonderful blend and sharing of traditions from everyone’s home countries as they break bread together. The exchange is warm and funny, particularly seeing the players interact with Higgins’ young sons, and it’s a nice affirmation that Higgins himself is more popular and integrated into the team than he used to be given the turnout.
I also enjoyed the tale of Roy and Keeley wandering around the neighborhood to find a dentist to help with his niece’s bad breath. It’s the most broadly comic story of the three, but I like having something mainly there for the yuks. Ane elementary school kid with bad breath is about as low stakes as it can get, but the door-to-door requests are good fodder for commentary, and Roy’s reaction to his niece’s “medically bad” scent is the best comedy acting he’s done in the whole show. The Love, Actually spoof at the end is sappy but effective.
And I also got a kick out of the Ted/Rebecca story here. Ted drinking whiskey alone in his first holiday after the divorce is rough, especially when he’s watching the emotional nadir of It’s a Wonderful Life. Rebecca being there for him, knowing what that's like, is a wonderful tonic to his holiday bummer and a cheering sign of their friendship. Their activities feel a little random, but also fun. And again, a s much as it feels like wish-fulfillment to see them show up at Higgins’ house and sing “Baby Please Come Home”, the extra leeway of the setting makes it joyful instead of trying.
Overall, this is a wonderful cup of low-stakes, high-warmth cheer to watch around the holidays.
