Terry Pratchett's Soul Music 1997

The real problem with this adaptation (apart from the animation style, which is too static and flat) is that you almost have to have read the book. Alternatively, there is a need to be familiar with the Discworld scenario. Otherwise, the characters and the way they behave don't make much sense.

The choice of Christopher Lee as the voice of 'Death' is inspired, as are the different styles the band use in each location whilst on tour. Sadly, the best line in the book is omitted, especially as it was such an excellent punchline.

I've given it a 7, but really, it's 6.6.
