Not everyone's cup of tea but its a hilarious show.

I've read a lot of arguments about how this show sucks because it makes fun of nerds (you're supposed to take Penny's perspective as the normal person and laugh at the awkward smart guys), and while this is certainly true in parts some of the jokes are genuinely funny and actually only understandable to "nerds", so it certainly can't only be targeted towards "normal people" as this theory implies. Plus, it's not like this episode is much more flattering to Penny - I mean, when she talks about herself she's just as much the butt of the joke as the guys were before.
I also quite enjoy the scale from Sheldon (super socially awkward, not at all aware of the fact and doesn't care) to Penny (not socially awkward but a bit stupid, not at all aware of the fact and doesn't care), with poor Leonard (slightly socially awkward, super aware of the fact and cares a lot about it) in the middle.
Unfortunately, there's some questionable jokes as well (transphobic, for one) so that kind of put me off on re-watch.

I liked this Sheldon better (maybe only second to the pilot one), not the caricature it was as the show went on. He doesn't really seem asexual and does the ocasional sarcasm.

It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I'll give it a try.

Rewatching the first episode for the second time after so many years. And there's this genuineness about it which I can't put in words. The later seasons don't have this, but the first one... It feels nice ^_^
