[6.3/10] Rivals III is easily the worst of the 3 incarnations.
It was easy to figure out who was going to win the season after the cast pairings were revealed. This made the watch completely predictable. The twist this season was that the Rivals pairs were male/female instead of the usual same sex pairings of the other 2 seasons.
Bananas and Sarah were completely overpowered as a duo. I will say, however, if Leroy had not been medically disqualified early in the game, he & Averey would’ve been a formidable duo in their own right. Averey was very underrated on Exes II, and could’ve made an impact with a better partner like Leroy.
We also missed out on a pairing of Wes and Cara Maria because Cara took this season off to spend time with a relative. What a missed opportunity.
This season also features one of my favorite dailies ever called Up All Night where the players had to stay up all night, standing on a small platform, and memorize random occurrences that happened throughout the night. Also, the Take it to the Grave daily was a unique way to do trivia.
The final here is infamous for what happens at the end, but the competitiveness of the pairs involved just made you want to fast forward to the conclusion.
Rivals III is far from the worst season of the show, but a lot of the pairs were a step down from the previous seasons and was hurt by a few disqualifications.
