Back in the day, when I was a kid, this was one of those shows that got rerun countless times that I never bothered to watch. Probably, that's for the better; coming to it having lived through a lot of the era that it seems to want to talk about, it's a rather incredible time capsule of satire framed by the desperation to have "some story" - and that story isn't that bad, actually.
The pilot is usually the low point of any series. High hopes, on that note.
