Absolute masterpiece, the last two episodes, the dialogues and discussion among them whose plain poetic.

Wow! What a great surprise I wasn't prepared for something so good and refreshing. This is a dark and gloomy crime mystery thriller with a touch of horror and sci-fi. It brings an array of interesting characters, well-built suspence and some highly emotional moments. I cried twice watching this which is a lot for me. The acting is great and so is the soundtrack that eerie music is simple but yet so effective. Brillant intro music and visuals also. The mystery is very engaging and makes the 6 episodes go by so fast. The last episode is pure acting masterclass!
The characters are so interesting and by far what I loved the most about the show. Jessica Raine and Peter Capaldi are at their best and every conversation their characters have together is almost poetic, stellar dialogue. Capaldi wasn't in the show as much as I wanted but his limited appearance makes you enjoy him all the more when he's there. Anytime he talks it's pure poetry, you just can't look away. Every good mystery show needs a cool detective character and we certainly get that Nikesh Patel as Det. Dhillon was truly great, the impersonnation of a good man I believe. My personal favorite is Isaac (Benjamin Chivers) the creepy kid. While child acting is always tricky to judge, every time he's on-screen I just can't look away. He doesn't show much facial expression but his look remains haunting and mysterious.
I would absolutely call this the best limited series of the year if Black Bird didn't also come out in the same year.
Such a great mini series! Got hooked from the first episode and couldn't stop watching! Capaldi's performance is a masterpiece, he delivered each line with such passion! Would definitely recommend giving this a watch
[Prime Video] A supernatural thriller that introduces overlapping narrative elements that work less well than "Shining girls" (2022). There are five episodes of confusion and a sixth of explanation, which ends up being somewhat frustrating, because it reveals an artificial character in the construction of the script, and in reality it doesn't quite justify everything that has happened before.
Excellent. Rather a bit of existential horror, of you care to think about the implications.
If you don't, it's a marvelous mystery with an extraordinarily satisfyingly ending.
And Peter Capaldi is really good.
And some very good filmmaking, by the way.
I was expecting psychological thriller, got psychological supernatural thriller, which is a plus. Definitely curious enough to keep watching.
Well to this I can only say the following: tilt's head Huh?
I'll give you this, for a six episode series. WOW does it pack a bloody punch. It's got some amazing tension right from the git go almost leaning in to horror as no one bothers to turn on lights throughout the entire series. The score builds, you expect a shadow to pop out and every once in a while someone does. Little Benjamin does a perfectly solid job of being the stoic Isaac. For his profile Capaldi wasn't as big of a role as I expected but when he was used he was excellent. Jessica Raine was a wonderful leading lady.
Very quickly this transitions from a natural thriller into a supernatural one and then in your head you play the guessing game. Is it ghosts? Is it time travel? Is it Aliens because as The Doctor (or was it Sarah Jane) once implied the others are stupid choices. Something has to explain the things Isaac appears to see and talk to. Something has to explain the flashes of (stronger than) deja vu that Lucy has. Something has to link the schizo grandmother and her son.
Then there's the ending. Honestly as great as episodes 1-5 were. I'd let pretty much anything go with episode 6. I kinda wish there was a second series so we could get a more conclusive ending but what we have here in the terminal side is an ending you'll have to watch two or three times to really let it sink it.
I recommend it. Aside from the lighting where no lamps are on it's a very tight series. It fails to come together in the end. Well I wouldn't say that. We do get answers and those answers are satisfactory. It just fails to do anything with it. Having run out of episodes the series ends before we really can see where it's going next.
I'm not afraid of an open ending. I think The Matrix (1999) and Awake (2012) Season 1 both ended with fantastic open endings. They brought all the elements together. Did something and then showed us where they go next.
I preferred this series when I was watching it, episodes 1-5, than when it ended when it just seemed to fizzle out. The cast and acting were great, the shots were a bit too dark in paces and at times it got a bit confusing but it needed to be given the nature of the story. It's just the ending I wasn't that impressed with, felt like a bit of an anti-climax.
It's a timeloop. That's it. Saved you 6 hours of boring English crackers talking.

Could have been trimmed to 5 episodes instead of the 6, you never really know where your going with each episode and if you do think you’ve worked it out, each episode will flip it on its head.
I can promise you the ending and explanation will be different to what you ever thought it was going to be…..

There are so many movies about time loops, multiverses and parallel lives. But it's not easy to write a TV series that talks about the same topics. One of my favorites is 11.22.63, but I must say that The devil's hour is very addictive. And yes, Peter Capaldi's interpretation is masterful.
Is this borrowing from the anime, "Erased," (2016)?
Slow burn time travel mix of mystery horror & psychology genres. Good drama, needs an ending though. Actors did ok enough.
more people should watch it, totally worth it. i felt so connected with lucy and other characters, and the plot is so interesting. recommend it 100%

They did a very good job on all fronts. The script is very well thought which makes it really enjoyable, the acting is superb, it's spooky when it has to but overall it's a crime show.
As always the best things are an inch "harder" to find, it's delusional that the average people gets hooked by cheaper shows.
Slow start but worth the wait. The second half is great stuff. Also, the creepiest autistic child ever filmed. Mike did nothing wrong.
One problem: the eternal recurrence Gideon experiences only makes sense if he's the only one doing it. Once you have other people in his same instance of the world experiencing it, it falls apart. For instance, does the world reset each time he dies? Or does it reset each time Evelyn dies? Only makes sense if all the "awake" people die at the same time. Or maybe he's the "player" character and all the awake NPCs just have to reset every time he does?
In all honesty, I only checked it out because of Peter Capaldi, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that it is among the finest television shows of the year and among the best in its genre.
A well-directed and atmospherically eerie series, “The Devil’s Hour” is a more than enjoyable watch. With a premise that, while not wholly original, is implemented in a fresh and compelling manner, the show manages to stand out from the rest. The horror aspects aren’t watered down either, which is a bonus. It’s quite different from anything else out there, in a good way.
The acting performances are solid across the board, but Benjamin Chivers, who portrays Isaac, stands out as particularly memorable. Capaldi and Jessica Raine also deliver some great performances. In addition to excellent acting and direction, the cinematography is also top-notch, adding to the experience.
The sluggish nature can be a slight drawback. This makes it quite challenging to maintain interest at times. With a second season in the works, I’m hoping they can work on improving this. Nevertheless, the show’s central mystery remains consistently intriguing from episode to episode, and the finale sets up the next season with a lot of promise.
“The Devil’s Hour” is worth checking out, and if you enjoy shows like “Dark” or “1899”, this will be totally up your alley.

Pleasantly surprised. I was expecting another British murder drama, which it is and tend to be hit/miss for me, but this had an interesting twist. Time travel/viewing is notoriously treacherous, but I think this was done elegantly. This is a quality series. Def binge worthy as others have noted.
This series has a great soundtrack.
