Father Ortega runs a small but loyal parish and has no idea that his quiet life is about to change forever. Meanwhile, another priest finds himself locked in a life-and-death struggle with evil. Father Brennan is a modern-day Templar Knight and is everything Father Tomas is not: relentless, abrasive and utterly consumed by his sacred mission. Caught in the middle is the Rance family. On the surface, they’re a normal, suburban family, but all is not as it seems. The patriarch, Henry Rance, is slowly but surely losing his mind. Eldest daughter Katherine has become a recluse and her younger sister, Casey, thinks she’s hearing strange noises coming from inside the walls. Mother Angela has been plagued by recurring nightmares. She believes there is something in the house, a demonic presence, growing stronger by the day. Desperate, she begs Father Tomas for help, unwittingly setting the naïve young priest on a collision course with Father Marcus. Separately, each faces an insurmountable task, but together they become the only hope against an evil force that has been mobilizing for centuries.

They bought rights to the name, but contains very little from the original. There's also the new plot element in which there are many possessed characters, not just the girl -- so it's more like a zombie story than the exorcism of a single demonic possession. Very similar plot to "Outcast" on Cinemax -- 2 guys dealing with a zombie-devil infestation. Would rather have seen an expanded limited event series, maybe 8 episodes, based on the original book. Instead, an endless supply of demon-zombies for a repetitive story that doesn't end until the series is cancelled...

More looking forward to Blatty's upcoming publication "The Exorcist For The 21st Century" featuring an original and never before published adaptation for a new miniseries of Blatty's classic novel.

I've started watching the show like three days ago and I'm quite in love with it. I didn't expect such a good show, to be honest. I'm not a great fan of the movie but this show is almost perfect for me. I love the genre, the argument, the interpretation of Ben Daniels, the characters... I have watched until the seventh episode and I'm really looking forward for the next.

"God, for future reference, isn't the one who works in mysterious ways."

There's nothing like the truth of the Devil to put the fear of God in the lukewarm priest, Father Tomas. It's a very interesting premise that immediately appealed to my own questioning faith.

And because I got crazy goosebumps when The Exorcist Theme started playing, I've unwittingly committed myself to seeing this series through for the entire (hopefully) creep-tastic journey. That music sure does strange things to people.
