The Expanse: Season 5

5x07 Oyedeng

great episode, a little bit slow, but I think this season is somewhat similar to season 1. I think it is building on a fast paced end of season episodes for the climax. Naomi's actress was awesome in this episode.

Something like 90% of the Naomi stuff in this one is a waste of time. A well done waste of time, but a waste of time nonetheless. It just kills the overall pacing of the episode and is WAY too much soap and way too little sci-fi. Throw in the fact that there is no Amos and only a brief bit of "Chrissy" and it all adds up to a rare disappointment for me, and one that feels like it lasted every minute of its runtime.

The episode was OK. Probably the weakest this season though. It feels like they could have trimmed a lot of this run time, especially with the show only having ~13 episodes left before the end. I am still confused about the overall progression and meaning of Naomi's conversations with Phillip.... Can someone possibly steer me in the right direction? his sudden change of heart at the end threw me off.... was he playing Naomi the entire time, or was Marco's control over him too firm, making him want to make up for disappointing him?

The ending did make it worth it though, PURE BADASSERY.

Very intense episode. Everything felt crucial and riddled with detail. Acting was SOLID all around and felt more natural than earlier episodes. By no means action packed, but the series has always excelled while doing more with less and keeping encounters brief, impactful, and executed with humbling realism.

why focusing so much on this soap family thing when you have this big universe full of opportunities, I don't understand what happened to the writing. I almost had to fast forward some scenes.

Wheres my boy amos? :(

The ep was slow to start but the spinning roci and the final scene made up for it. Looking forward to next week!

Ho, Ly, Shit. What an ending. What an escape.

Though i'm not a fan of Naomi's storyline this season, what's happening has been quite good, though i think she's been shit on way too much this season.

I miss the crew being together in the ship. During the fight with the Nemeya i just kept thinking that Alex would have been good in this situation, and he wouldn't have let one of the rainguns get damaged like that. But still, this pilot was still very good, especially when he hasn't gotten used to the Roci for a while.

Bobbie: "Nah, just itches a little bit." :D

I'm not sure what to think of Cyn and Filip anymore. Cyn means well and has a heart but did horrible things. Filip seemed to bond with Naomi but I'm not sure if he still can be saved.

The ending was a big WTF moment :o Is Cyn really dead and how well will Naomi survive? I hope there is a bit more to that.

I really hope that terrorist gets blown into space soon, as well as that idiot son of Naomi.

This drawn out arc with Naomi and Filip has been a long time coming and has been built up since we first learned Naomi had a son. Not just the fact that she had a child, but had one with Marcos. There were some really beautiful moments with her son where she tries to make him understand her side of things and not just what he was told by Marcos, but also to show some humanity. It nearly had me in tears. At the same time I was screaming where's the badass Naomi I know and love. This episode did not disappoint because she always finds a way to help innocent people and those she loves. That was an awesome ending to this episode and I'm sure Naomi will be stronger than ever.

If only the whole person of Naomi and her entire narrative could just be erased from The Expanse. It would save so much pointless and endless drama and soap. This episode is entirely full of it. Add to that the utter b.s. of flying unprotect through the cold vacuum of space and just surviving with a stimpack - seriously, are you kidding me???
This must be by far the biggest nonsense and weakest episode in all of the seasons of The Expanse. What a waste of screen time.

I said it before, Naomi scenes are boring and I’ll say it again. Boring. Boring. Boring. I hope she gets finally pissed & fights back.

Naomi's jump through the vacuum was the most retarded scene ever. Aren't you supposed to get immediately sucked out into space if a compartment loses pressure instead of softly floating away? Ridiculous...

This episode has the dumbest ending of the entire series. An injection is all it needs to survive in cold space without a suit? Really? Is Naomi somehow related to Skywalkers? This is disappointing, considering that this series is one of the most scientifically accurate concept of future in space, excluding the protomolecule, of course.
