The Gifted: Season 2

2x16 oMens

This was pretty good. Most of the characters were well utilized. With a few exceptions like Polaris, who was a badass when she was with the Inner Circle, but can barely do anything when she's not.

Kate kills that pain in the ass inviso dude. She was starting to look like Root. Reed finally does something right. I think he survived. He wouldn't be the first dude to blowup and live. I loved the last look on Reeva's face. The kids blew a building up. Thunderbird had a good fight scene. Finally Blink came back and she no longer had to work to keep the portals open. I didn't get a good look but things looked worse on the other side.

After the good first season 1 this season had no way to go. it was crap. should be canceled or I just stop watching it. its getting nowhere.

Damn, that ending has me excited for a third season. They better renew this show.

I counted the amount of scenes where our heroes either are engaged apologising to eachother or apologising for themselves, being angsty and whispering, and suffice to say (also cause I quickly lost interest in keeping count) there's way too many scenes like this. It's a bit less than all the eyerolls and sighs I have. The cringy emo-scenes followed by even more cringey action scenes with a takketakke-takketakke-action soundtrack and a lot of umpfing and aah-ing is just too much for this little fella.

*whispering and pressing his vocal cords to mimick closeness * By now it's clear this isn't a show for me. It's more soap-opera than superhero series with people who aren't real enough to care about despite all the losses they have. I doubt this gets a third season and if it does I doubt I'll suffer through any more of it. Goodbye Gifted, I'll watch you in Legion, Doom Patrol and a myriad of other superhero/mutant shows that do it better. * ends whispering speech and pressing his vocal cords to mimick closeness *

The only good thing about this season finale was Reed. He managed to do what we've all been wanting to do since the first episode of this season.

Clarice appearing at the end was pretty much expected, so that ending fell flat. I mean, no one watching this show actually believed she was dead, right? Same thing goes for Reed, being one of the main characters and one of the two most well-known actors in there, of course he didn't die. Also, Polaris continued to be a disappointment. As the most powerful character in the show, she continues to do jack shit, only bending and throwing minor stuff around. Definitely the most underused character of the show.

This show has lost its mojo, it took me weeks to finally want to watch this episode. There have been far better superhero shows out there, since The Gifted premiered (Titans, Doom Patrol). For some time, now, the show runner has been talking about the cancellation of The Gifted after this season, so I really hope this was the end of it.

Hopefully they renew this. Just let Lethal Weapon go, since Wayans wants to leave. While also causing so much delays and arguments on set.

The ending wasn't as good as I've hoped but let's see what the next season brings. I also hope they'll have a good explanation for Blink's return. I was expecting that she and her portals would return in some way but she did get shot multiple times which made me certain that her physical body would be gone (likely even if she'd immediately portaled herself to a clinic). Anyway, it's nice that Esme finally joined the team. Is Reed really dead though? The "white energy silhouette" of his body didn't seem to disintegrate in the scene and Lauren and Andy did already survive a building that collapsed on top of them. I even feel a bit bad for Jace as he's trying to do the right thing but is surrounded by the wrong people and sees mainly the bad side of the mutants (I mean from his perspective they can indeed look like terrorists and liars).
Edit: Guess we'll never find out...

And the show was cancelled on that note?! Fuck... But I'm happy I've watched it even tho I knew it was cancelled.

Well the writers sure know how to kill a promising program. After this dismal season they couldn’t even get the finale right.

As for the cliffhanger ending?! Pah, as if any studio exec would employ your sorry for another year!

Reed dying near the ending made me feel dissatisfied with the episode but then Clarice appearing made it all better. The actress and her character are some of my favorites. I still wish Reed and Esme's sisters remained alive. If anything, it's the mom and daughter of the Strucker family that should have been removed due to either poor acting or being of little character value.
What's also disappointing is how small Polaris' role was in the whole fight. She's one of the most powerful mutants, and watching her take things down in the earlier episodes was a joy, so I expected her to at least take the whole group up to the highest floor of the building, straight to Reeva.

This actually turned out to be a better season finale than I expected. Pretty much everyone had their moment to show what they're capable of. Not sure what i'd be more upset with; If the show doesn't get renewed because I want to see season 3... or if it doesn't eventually get renewed for a season 4 so they can finally spell out XMEN with the episode titles.. lol
