The most awful episode in the entire universe. Never saw it coming.

What a shocker. Never expected it at all

I can't believe I wrote what I wrote about the last episode only to have this happen right now. Unfortunately, it didn't come as a surprise, to me, because I've read some time ago a comment on The Good Wife's Trakt page where some damned, wretched soul mentioned Will's death, without any spoiler tags (but that has been fixed, in the meantime).

What troubles me the most is what triggered Will's death. Having an oblivious looking guard casually standing very close to the defendant with his gun almost whispering into that unstable guy's ear is very forced and somewhat bad writing. So, I was expecting Will to be gone, eventually, but it was terribly disappointing to see how it came to be.

Still, the last few minutes of the episode were very emotional and, apart from that clumsy gun scene, everything was very well executed.

I’ve been preparing for 5 seasons for that to happened, but I didn’t expect it to happen like that. :flushed:

this was completely unexpected, in the context of the series plot and of the episode pacing, I thought the guy would do something dramatic as he was turning into a trainwreck... but this? it's gut-wrenching and they really fooled us by putting Will and Alicia sharing a sweet hopeful scene just moments before the shooting... But even as the shooting happened, I never thought he was really going to die, get severely wounded at most? sure, but killing off a major character that had two major plot-lines going on (Peter's voter fraud and the eternal Alicia drama) is a risky move to make and it makes for the second huge twist just this season - The Good Wife up until this season had been a regular procedural show - great script and great performances, but never really did something that provoked a bigger wave plot-wise, but on seaon 5 they threw an anvil at everything and it's dazzling, let's see how they'll handle another major twist like this one.

Will's way of dying was a bit clumsy though, but believable after all, nothing overdone and the scenes with Diane and Kalinda were devastating.
