Since the very first episode i have been wondering why the hell i'm watching this show. Still don't have an answer, but maybe i find out in next weeks episode :/
This episode, The Last Man on Earth is joined by The Unfunniest Actor on Earth, Chris Elliott.
And before you click ʀᴇᴘʟʏ to strenuously debate this opinion, go watch 'There's Something About Mary' again, and take careful note of how he drags down every scene he's in like an anchor tied to a millstone.
Also, if your strenuous reply is going to contain the words cabin and boy, then just don't reply at all.
At this point, the only entertaining aspect of watching 'The Last Man on Earth' is imagining what kind of audience could find this lowbrow, bizarre go-nowhere show at all funny. Never mind who in their right mind keeps rating episodes between 75% and 80% here on Trakt.
Not only is nothing happening plot-wise, but two-thirds of the characters are going unused to free up more time to feature interminable showboating, like Will Forte and Kristen Wiig mangling Christopher Cross's 'Sailing'. And now we have Glenn, a whole new character to get to know! A male one! With interesting facial hair! I'm guessing we might focus on him a lot. Cleopatra Coleman and Jennifer Jones must be itching to fall overboard and get written out of this show, now that they are merely background actors. And when did Mary Steenburgen do anything beyond roll her eyes? Four episodes? Five? What a tragic waste of a cast.
'The Last Man on Earth' has devolved to subjectively bad comedy trying to hide behind the facade of anti-comedy. This show has made ridiculous farce its own sort of eternal punchline, and I guess it must be succeeding if it's still finding an audience. I watch this show with the hope it might improve, but now Chris Elliott is on board, that hope is commensurate with living on a deserted island, watching for ships and planes after the apocalypse.
Yay! Tandy and Carebear are back! <3
