The Last Ship

Season 5

So far (Episode 4) the Show seems to have lost it's focus.

[Spoiler] We shifted from "we are the good guys who cure the world" (Totally unrealistic, but who cares) to Pearl Harbor 2 + Aftermath, just on US Shore instead of Hawaii (Yes, I know Hawaii is part of the US, but you know what I mean).

Even Gustavos tactics remind me a bit of WW II since he is pushing forward fast, does charismatic speeches full of lies and is showing first signs of overconfidence.

Yes, it is still a good show, but it isn't "The Last Ship" anymore.

In regards to Episode 1: Who is dumb enough to gather the ENTIRE FLEET in one place?
That Admiral should be fired, perhaps procecuted for that decision.

Even a highschool dropout would know that that is a stupid move...

last season was major dissapointment. i really liked this show and i think seasons 1-4 delivered decent entertaintment. But season 5 is full of logical holes, pathethic music and ‘action’ that doesn’t make any sense. too bad they didn’t have money for good writers. killing this show was right move, I’d hate to see them destroying it any further

Season 5 had a better plot on paper than season 4, and even a better written and acted villain. But, all the other characters of the show felt two dimensional and hollow. Even Chandler lacked his usual charm. The season felt like it was written to be a generic military fiction show that doesn’t utilize any of the existing characters for who they are, except just operators.

The Nathan James embarks on one last mission in the fifth and final season of The Last Ship. When a Latin American dictator named Tavo launches a sneak attack on the United States’ new naval fleet former admiral Mike Chandler comes out of retirement and takes the James to Central America to organize a resistance and prevent more counties from falling to Tavo’s march across the Americas. It turns out that this being the shows last season is a good thing, as it really stretches for material and the plot seems contrived. Still, it attempts to honor the show’s original premise by working in a computer virus as the catalyst for the sneak attack and the cast delivers some strong performances. Also, the writers take some daring risks, and do a good job at building dramatic tension and suspense. Season 5 of The Last Ship has its problems, but still delivers a thrilling adventure that closes out the series.

Well, season 5 had it moments good and very bad. I'm disappointed and happy that the series concluded, because there was no place else for it to go.

I agree with Marc Friedolin. But luckly this is the last season.
