Damn... 4 times a day?!
"Because I could."
Scary that God could do something like the departure just because. "God" was the same man Kevin meet at the bridge and the bar at the hotel. Burton died 3 years ago, about the same time when Kevin died twice. Whether or not he really is God he saved Matt by making him realize he doesn't have to think about how God would judge him. He may still be dying but his mind is saved. And really, of course he would get eaten by the lion. Poetic justice for Matt.
Also that opening was weird but at least it explained the explosion. I'm glad we are getting some answers quickly. All the main characters are in Australia now, whats going to happen next? Only three more...
Nothing short of a masterpiece. Hands down, the best show currently airing.
I denounce God and shift my allegiance to Frasier.
DAMN YOU MATT! Every matt centered episode is HELL!!!! Why does he do these things to himself???? Who on their right mind would jump to the damn ocean?? You throw some lifesavers and alert the captain and crew! The worst part is that he is not an imbecile, he does this stuff on purpose to be a martyr and to gain points with god, cause he thinks suffering makes him look good on god’s eyes.
FRAAAAASIERRRRRR ! haha amazing time there.
"This is a distraction" seems to sum up this episode. I love the show and I like Matt as a character, but other than his conversation with "God," which - was - significant, I didn't much see the point in this acid trip boat ride episode because other than learning that Matt's dying, hardly anything happened to further the main plot.
I always find it fascinating that while other people face stuff they have to figure out and they are looking for ways to cope with those things, Matt's in his stories, as he is an adamant believer ready to come up with explanations, is the opposite of everyone else and is always forced to give up something of himself or his beliefs in order to move forward. In season 1 he loses his church, in season 2 he loses his dignity and credibility. He can put up posters exposing disappeared people of their crimes and faults, he can lose his wife and child, but here, if he is to meet with God himself and then watch him die, even then he cannot cure himself and he will be forced to accept that he is going to die at some point. There is just no test to move forward from that. But like Frasier, who was thought to be at the end of his life, he still just might be at the prime of his life in his last years, especially if from now on he can look differently at his actions by how he thinks he is judged by God
Goddamnit what an amazingly written and acted episode.
See, now they're not even bothering with subtlety anymore LOL. This episode was great.
"That's the guy I was telling you about." Yes, all this literal God damned time Matt, and it only took divine intervention for you to understand nothing.
the best episode in this season .
Could it be that Matt will finally find peace and leave martyrdom behind?
It was mostly a funny episode.
One of the worst episodes of cliche HBO trash ever made! Lindelof is the worst name in TV.

Every season needs one Matt-centered episode. Filled with a dizzying mix of utter wackiness and seeming arbitrariness, but with that stubborn thread of persistent-if-evolving Purpose almost guiding him through to... somewhere...
