I am only three episodes in, but I get a Hercules/Xena vibe with a splash of Shannara Chronicles.
It definitely doesn’t take itself as serious as previous incarnations if Journey to the West. Even Deagonball Z and the Saiyuki anime take the story a bit more seriously.

But it is an enjoyable time passer.
